Lent

During Lent we are encouraged to focus a little more on Prayer, Fasting and Almsgiving.

We will have the opportunity to focus on our almsgiving via the three projects that the bishop has chosen to support as part of his Lenten travels around the parishes.

· One third of what is collected will go to the farm charity Embrace which supports farm families where there is a crisis such as a sudden death or life changing accident.

· The other third will go to support the work of Bishops Appeal for its work with the Anglican Diocese of Jerusalem which has a long association providing health care in Gaza (Which we supported at harvest) and Tear fund.

· The remaining third will be earmarked for The Bishops Appeal emergency funding where the need is immediate.

His visit to the Tralee and Dingle group will be to Tralee on Wednesday 4th March at 13.30The bishop hopes that vintage equipment cars etc can be gathered for the occasion.

The visit will be short and it will include the sing of the hymn ‘For the Beauty of the Earth’ No 350 Tune England Lane.

For the Beauty of the Earth (Tune: England's Lane - 6vv) [with lyrics for congregations]

Bishops Appeal envelopes will be available throughout Lent until the Sunday after Easter at which point we will send what we have gathered to the bishop.

Parishioners can also make their donations to the parish via EFT, but please inform the treasurers if you do so.

Parishioners in Hospital

Due to privacy rules and GDPR it’s not possible to ask in hospitals anymore for a list of Cs of I patients. I am happy to visit any parishioner in any of the hospitals and care homes in the wider parish area. The provision of pastoral care to Church of Ireland patients in the hospitals such as UHK and the BONS is part of my role. I work closely with the full-time chaplains, but please let me know if you or a loved one would like a visit or indeed if anyone known to you would like a visit.
