Liturgical Welcome for Bishop Michael to Kerry in St Johns on Saturday the 11th June at 7pm.Followed by Tea in Teach an tSolais. This is an important Parish and Diocesan event for the Kerry area, so please try and be present as we welcome our new Bishop to the Kingdom.

Tea Following the Liturgical Welcome, all are welcome, Donations of cakes traybakes etc are needed for the reception following the service on June 11th.  If you can help, please let Olive Flynn know. Items can be dropped to Mona Butler on Friday or Saturday morning.

Dingle always seems to have a festival and on the May Bank Holiday weekend it was the turn of Féile Na Bealtaine, the weather was good and the crowds came to Dingle. There was a lovely atmosphere in the town on the Saturday evening when we gathered in St James Church at 6pm for the Holy Communion Service, Elements of which were in Irish.

The Church was transformed for the weekend with lots of high-tech gear in the side Chapel and a grand piano in the sanctuary.

It’s wonderful to see this ancient and holy place being used by all and sundry. It was interesting to stand and watch as young people streamed happily and joyfully into the church for another musical event when the service was over. The aroma of cooked food wafting in from the nearby restaurant only adding to the festive atmosphere.

We were joined by Camp parishioners with four generations of the Day, O’Donnell and Gascoigne families present and three generations of the Martin family in addition to the Dingle parishioners.

Sympathy

We extend our sympathy to all those who have been recently bereaved.

To Jim, Amanda and Pete and their families on the death of Patricia Touhy who died on the 16th May and whose funeral was held in St Johns Church on the 19th May followed by burial in Ballyseedy church year.

Pat was such a faithful member of our parish, serving as Church warden.

She loved the Church and enjoyed the fellowship with her many friends in the parish.

To the Blennerhassett family on the death of Hyacinth Blennerhassett wife of the late Arthur Blennerhassett of Tallaght in Dublin.

To Jo, Neal Gavin, Ross and Adam Peevers

on the death of Jo’s Dad Mike Cross in Limerick.

To Patrick, Winnie, Samantha, Natasha, Christopher and Dominic Knightly on the Death of Patricks father William.

Grant O Lord to all who are bereaved the spirit of faith and courage, that they may have the strength to meet the days to come with steadfastness and patience, not sorrowing as those without hope, but in thankful remembrance of remembrance your great goodness in the past and in a sure and certain hope of a joyful reunion in heaven and this we ask through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

Confirmation.

This service will be held in St Johns Church Tralee on Sunday 19th June, this will be a united service for the Tralee, Ballymac and Ballyseedy end of the parish.

Boys Brigade,

On Friday night the BB held their annual display and prize giving in teach an tSolais, the young people put on a wonderful display and Collette the captain presented badges and cups for the various categories. It was lovely to watch the children participate in the events and the smiles on their faces said it all.
It was Collette’s final night as captain after more than 20 years in that role, and what a creative captain she was and so generous with her time.
Presentations and flowers were made to her on behalf of the parish and the BB by and Rev Jim David Tough. The Rev Jim thanked Collette for her creativity and generosity in her many years with the BB and reminded her of the impact for good that she had made in so many young lives.
Nienke very creatively adapted and sang a well-known song replacing the lyrics with lyrics that reflected all that went on at the BB as a tribute to Collette. Thank you for that.
Jim also thanked the other outgoing leaders, Daniel and Rory Giles and Derek Rusk as well as David Tough who has given outstanding service to the BB as both leader, mentor and treasurer over the years.

Recent Ecumenical Blessings

The Rector Joined Fr O’ Mahony at the blessing of the new road from Abbeydorney to Kilflynn.

He also joined Fr Nolan on the 29th May to bless the new inshore Lifeboat, ‘Lizzie ‘at Fenit

Graveyard Services.

St John’s Oakview on Monday the 13th @7.30pm

Kilflynn church on Wednesday the 8th   @  8pm

Both grounds are kept in such good order by the local community and burial ground committees, and it’s wonderful to see how a church such as the one in Kilflynn can be reordered to serve the community in another way.

Exam Students,

Good luck to all those students who are doing state exams in the next few weeks, and to their families as they support them.
